Kids enrolled in summer day camps at the Y enjoy a variety of imaginative activities that nurture their spirits, challenge their minds and strengthen their bodies - all while learning about themselves and the world around them. Their summer fun is led by caring staff so they can safely enjoy activities like arts and crafts, sports, swimming and more. Children at Y day camps learn the importance of healthy choices and active lifestyles while developing teamwork and leadership skills.

Y summer camps are for everyone! We believe every child should be given the opportunity to experience Y summer day camps. That’s why we offer so many choices, locations and themes throughout Floyd and Clark Counties.

Reduced program fees and financial assistance are available for those who qualify.

OUR STAFF CARES FOR CHILDREN
Staff for all programs are hired for their care and concern for children. All staff receive training through the Y and are certified in CPR and First Aid as well as Child Abuse Prevention, and Y Water Safety. Each camp is run by a director with extensive experience in youth work and recreation. Most camps offer a staff to camper ratio of 1:15. Kinder Camp's ratio is 1:10. Camp Adventure Kids offer a ratio based on campers' needs.

The Search Institute has identified a framework of 40 developmental assets for children. The Y has adopted these assets and incorporates them into all Y programs. The following are three of the assets that our summer camp programs will stress every day:

  • Self-esteem
  • Caring adult role models
  • Creative activities that include children's input

Registration

There is a non-refundable $10 per week per child reservation fee. Registration is ongoing. No registrations will be accepted on the first day of any camp for that camp. Enrollment in each camp is limited so we recommend you register well in advance. Camp enrollment is based on a first-paid, first-served basis. If the camp is full, a waiting list will be started. All children will receive a Y camp t-shirt at registration that should be worn on field trip days.
