Self Studies
How well do you know yourself? Students will explore the concept of self-portraits through realistic as well as abstract techniques. They will learn the basic techniques of constructing a self-portrait and then explore the endless possibilities of self-study. Throughout the class, we will look at traditional modes of the self-portrait verses the more expressive styles of self-illustration. These contemplative students will explore the self using methods of collage, drawing with graphite pencil, using pastels, painting with watercolor as well as printing and stamping. While gaining techniques and technical skills for more formal pieces, the students will also learn to express emotion through the use of different colors and mediums.
