The YMCA Child Development Center offers full-day child care for infants - age 12. The Center is state licensed and staffed by caring, trained child care providers. Director Judy Smith holds a degree in elementary education with an endorsement in early childhood education. Her staff includes teachers with degrees and numerous years of experience in child care and education. The YMCA Child Development Center is located at Kids Square, a multi-service center for children in Charlestown.
Children are placed in classrooms as determined by age and developmental levels from infant through school age. Children are accepted according to available space in their respective groups. Children over 3 are welcome on a daily basis; however, full-time slots are given space priority. Classrooms have private restrooms, activity centers and access to a fenced outdoor playground. During inclement weather, children have an indoor play area that includes equipment for both fine and large motor skills.
Nutritious hot meals are prepared on site in a fully equipped kitchen. The YMCA Child Development Center operates year-round from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the exception of New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Before and after school is also offered in Charlestown at Pleasant Ridge and Jonathan Jennings Elementary schools. Fees vary depending upon age, number of children in family and daily or full-time. For a fee schedule, call the YMCA Child Development Center at 256-2005. |
