The generosity of others is at the core of the Y’s existence as a nonprofit. It is only through the support of our hundreds of thousands of volunteers and public and private donors that we are able to support and give back to the communities we engage.
The Y offers a wide range of swim lessons for the whole family. In Y swim lessons, participants learn and practice new swimming skills and feel a sense of achievement from mastering something new that they can enjoy the rest of their lives. While participating in fun water sports and games, children also increase their physical activity levels. Participants in swim lessons are connected to others in the class, make new friends and recognize new role models. The participants are more comfortable and secure around water, as they learn water safety and improve their swim skills.
We introduce kids to the water through group activities and games, while a parent accompanies them in the water. Skills are introduced at the child's development level and build on each other as the child progresses. Basic skills are taught through songs and fun games.
We help children build elementary swimming skills while teaching them safety along the way. Children are placed with our trained instructors based on their skill levels.
For our older swimmers, we focus on endurance, pool and personal safety, skill development and lifesaving techniques. Skills are assessed and children are placed with instructors in the appropriate age groups.
Adult swim lessons are for those individuals who wish to learn how to swim or for those who want to work on their technique.
Take the plunge into better health! If you have never learned how to swim, there is no time like the present to learn basic swim skills. No one is ever too old to learn how to swim. This class will have others who want to ease their fears or learn how to lap swim for exercise. You will get to conquer all this with others just like you.
Lessons for those who wish to learn to swim at their own pace or want to build their technique.
Lessons will be divided between mild and severe needs. It will combine learning to swim with exercise and the therapeutic benefits of working in the water. Swimmers will learn the appropriate way to act around the pool to create the safest possible environment for them.
